Main Objective: Share the culture of Azorean tea as a unique European heritage, and challenge the participants to use of this element in the preparation of dishes and drinks.
Number of participants: 6 to 10 schools, with a group of 2 students (1 cooker and 1 waiter/barman), 1 teacher and 1 school headmaster.
Registration:
Team (2 students and 1 teacher): free of charge;
Additional registration (headmaster): 160 €
Deadline for registration: January 31st, 2009
Activities:
- Visit to the tea plantations
- Lunch served by participating teams
- Public election of the best dessert and cocktails
Festival
The main objective is that students prepare a menu and cocktails in which the Azorean tea comes as the main ingredient.
As so, two activities will be carried out:
- a bar and cooking contest with a jury supervision and judgement
- a public election on three specific items.
Prizes will be given for the following categories:
Public Election
- Best alcohol free cocktail
- Best cocktail
- Best dessert
Jury Vote
- Best Bartender
- Best Cooker
- Best team (team with the higher sum of points in both contests)
Bar contest
Preparation and presentation of drinks in the following categories:
- Alcohol free cocktail
- Cocktail
The organization will send a list of the drinks available for the contest. The participants will choose the drinks needed and send the final list for March 10th, 2008 at the latest.
Cooking contest
Preparing and set up of a lunch for 2 persons, with a starter, an entrée and a dessert.
The organization will send a list of the ingredients available for the contest. The participants will choose the ingredients needed and send the final list for March 10th, 2008 at the latest.
The table service is performed by a restaurant/bar student of the same country.
Teams can decorate the tables with traditional items of their countries.
