A. The Turkish System of Education - In General

Beside the education which is given in general occupational high schools, colleges take language courses for the first year which is called preparation year |
B. Vocational Education and Training for Tourism an Leisure Industry in Turkey

Advanced level general education and theoretical knowledge about hotel and tourism industry After school education, students are involved in a training programme for six months in touristic areas. (School year lasts six months and practical training lasts six months for each year

Students divide into departments according to their skills, such as cookery, service and bar, reception and beside the theoretical knowledge students improve their skills with the superintendence of the teachers at school. At the end of the school year six months of practical work in touristic areas between years 2 and 3.

Largely practical works take place in schools. Vocational schools entitle graduates to study at universities or to start professional life. |
C. Recognition of the Turkish Vocational Education by EU
The aim of the hotel and tourism vocational high schools is to grow up qualified staff for this industry. The training programmes provide colleges to improve their skills and they become very good at their occupations and become professionals. Students work in various departments of the hotels beside their own departments. And also colleges can practise their skills in their schools in many different ways because vocational schools have hotels for practising. After graduating these schools, colleges are absolutely ready for their occupational lives. And also vocational high schools entitle colleges extra points who want to attend the universities to have advanced occupational education. |
