Vocational College of Hospitality and Tourism Maribor is inviting the European youth from the AEHT member schools to participate in the 2023 edition of the Youth Parliament, which will be held at

VOCATIONAL COLLEGE OF HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM
MARIBOR, SLOVENIA

The aim is for young people to learn about diplomacy and international relations, to develop the skills of effective international communication targeting the topics of sustainability, green skills and resilience, as well as to promote greater global awareness of contemporary issues in travel and tourism. This 5-day intensive programme will see a role-play of the simulated European parliament (MEPs) and numerous debates.

Location: Vocational College of Hospitality and Tourism Maribor
(Cafova ul. 7, 2000 Maribor)

Student participation criteria:
As we wish to enable the arrival of as many countries as possible, the limit is set at 2 students per country (1 per school). Students shall be 18 years old at the time of travel. Since active participation is required in debates, the level of English shall be at least B2, because the participating students will be required to carry out research on the topic of debate and try to develop solutions to major issues identified.

2023 is a year of skills. Topics for debate, therefore are: green skills // digitization in tourism // shortage of labour force – attracting talent from far away.

Confirmation of participation: 23 January 2023

Compulsory ZOOM meeting for all confirmed participants: Wednesday, 25 January 2023, 16:00 hrs CET (15:00 hrs Lisbon/Dublin, 17:00 hrs Athens/Tallinn)

Very Important:
Logistics will be addressed at the first ZOOM meeting. Don’t book any flights until a written confirmation is provided by the organiser.

AEHT Youth Parliament 2023 in Maribor is free of charge for participating students with the following costs fully covered by VCHT:

• Transfer from nearby airports (pick-up from Ljubljana, Zagreb and Graz, assistance with arrivals to Venice, Venice-Treviso, Trieste, and Vienna)
• Accommodation in Maribor (Sunday, 16 April – Friday, 21 April) on a B&B basis
• All lunches (MON – THU) + all dinners (SUN – THU)
• All excursions and sightseeing as per the programme
