The last rendezvous of the 13th Christmas in Europe was the gala dinner on the evening of December 8th in the magnificent foyer of the Bad Ischl ‘ Tourismusschule’. Once again the Bad Ischl teams excelled themselves in every respect, and the evening was very much in tune with an unforgettable stay.
The delegations and guests were dressed to the nines, there was a special ‘sparky’ aperitif prepared by the school’s specialists, the tables were decorated, and there was a discrete and friendly atmosphere. Once again the cocktail turned out to be excellent.
In his welcome address Klaus Enengl, the director of the Tourismusschule, said how proud he was of his school, of his teams and of this gala evening. He extended a special welcome to the sponsors, among them Dr. Johann Stadler and his deputy from the Sparkasse, as well as Rudolf Rastor, a friend of the school. And it was the last dinner, prepared in the school’s kitchens. A dinner worthy of the best restaurants and served by students who were attentive and assiduous.

Aperitif time.
And to crown this perfect evening, a classical music accompaniment of the highest quality sung by Katharina Mooslechner with Katrin Lehismets at the piano; both musicians were loudly applauded.

The two musicians.
Again as usual Klaus Enengl addressed those present, to thank the two musicians and above all the delegations. ‘Many thanks to all of you for your commitment, thanks to you Bad Ischl has become a great European city, it was a great honour to have the opportunity to welcome you here …’ He also expressed his gratitude to Hans Russegger and to the principal linchpins of the event, his teachers!

Thanks to Hans Russegger.

And thanks to the main linchpins – his teachers!
Christiane Keller also addressed the gathering, to thank with her usual warmth the Bad Ischl team which excelled itself in providing its guests with such a Christmas celebration in one of the cradles of traditional Christmases. Klaus Enengl took great pleasure in offering her a sneak preview of the ‘family photograph’ taken at the end of the parade on December 5th. Christiane Keller was deeply moved by this gesture.

Then came the parade of the delegations, filing past to receive their attendance certificates and little individual messages of thanks. Andw finally the handing over of the AEHT flag to the team from Portugal, to loud applause from those present. Then as a finale Klaus Enengl, clutching his guitar, launched into the John Lennon song ‘Happy Christmas’, with everyone joining in the chorus. What a stunning end to this 13th Christmas in Europe in Bad Ischl!

The Portuguese team is now lined up for the 14th Christmas in Europe in Fundaj!

The restaurant brigade is thanked individually by the director!
